Victoria, Seychelles
Victoria Clock tower
Victoria is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Seychelles.
The principal exports of Victoria are vanilla, coconuts, coconut oil, fish and guano. Guano is the accumulated excrement of seabirds and bats. As a manure, guano is a highly effective fertilizer due to its content of nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium. Guano was also, to a lesser extent, sought for the production of gunpowder and other explosive materials.
The Mont Fleuri campus of the University of Seychelles is in Victoria. There are two cathedrals in Victoria, Roman Catholic Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Anglican St Paul’s Cathedral. There are also Baptist and Pentecostal churches, mosques and Hindu temples.
Seychelles International Airport is located in Victoria. The inner harbor in the east of the town serves the tuna fishing and canning industry. There is a clock tower in the city which is modeled after Little Ben in London.
Victoria market is the heart of the capital. It was built in 1840 and renovated in 1999. People buy local fruits, vegetables, spices and fish from this market.
To the north of the market is Revolution Avenue, where more snack restaurants, travel agencies, and a large supermarket are found.
To the south of Victoria is Eden Island, which is a more up-market residential area, offering contemporary design, luxury villas, elegant bars and restaurants, a marina, and a shopping centre.
One of the most visited attractions in Victoria is the colorful Hindu temple at Quincy Street.

Experienced hikers can climb to the top of the mountain.
The park stands on the heights of the 32 mountains. There are dense forests on the island. There is a viewing platform on the top of the mountain, from which one can see the beauty of the entire Mahé Island.
The National Park is home to several species of birds, including the Seychelles scops-owl, bulbul, and sunbird. Wild plants include endemic palms, pitcher plants, and ferns.
Seychelles – Ste Anne Marine National Park
Ste Anne Marine National Park
This marine park consists of 6 islands. It is accessible by boat in 15 to 20 minutes from the coast of Mahé near Victoria. The islands are known for their beaches, luxury resorts and Creole restaurants.
The park is famous for snorkeling, scuba diving, and glass-bottom boat excursions. This area has a rich diversity of marine life in the coral reefs. Most visitors take a day excursion from Mahé. It is also possible to stay overnight on a few of the islands.
At Cerf Island, you can swim, snorkel, or dive along the beautiful reefs, or bask on the uncrowded beaches. It is also a suitable island for an overnight stay.
Privately owned Moyenne Island has nature trails, reconstructed settlers’ homes, pirate graves, a small thatched chapel, and giant tortoises.
Seychelles -La Digue Island
a Digue Island
This is the fourth largest island in Seychelles. Nature lovers will enjoy traditional island life. Bicycles and oxcarts are popular modes of transport.

Veuve Nature Reserve is another attraction here in this island. You will find the endangered black paradise flycatcher, also called “the widow” because of its streaming black tail feathers.
Diving and rock climbing are popular in this island. Hikers will enjoy La Pass to Grand Anse Trail, which goes past French colonial houses through woodlands and marsh areas to gorgeous Grand Anse beach.
The most popular alcoholic drink on La Digue is palm wine, which most Seychellois people like to make themselves by fermenting the inside of a coconut.

Anse Intendance
This is one of Mahé’s best beaches. This is a favorite surfing spot with frequent big swells and wild waves. This beach lacks a protective reef to make swimming safe. Experienced swimmers will have no difficulty. Turtles nest along the shores here.
The beach can be reached by car or bus. There is a bus stop just a few minutes from the sand. Parking spaces are also found near the beach.
Banyan Tree Resort is located on his beach. This resort is almost the only thing in the whole bay, with no other guesthouses or restaurants located nearby, except for a small beach bar, which sells a few snacks and some cold drinks.
